By appointment, we welcome you to come observe a Monday night class. If you wish to participate in the training session, you can; however, we request that you watch first and after the current members have begun to practice material at their level and have received feedback of what to work on, then the teacher will go over some basics of the sword and the kihon waza (foundational movements) with you and answer questions. Discovering what iaido can do for you will definitely take more than one session. We encourage you to keep that in mind when you come and watch a class and/or engage in the free lesson. If you wish to do more than watch, be sure to let us know so we can arrange to have equipment on hand for you to borrow. Try if at all possible to arrive by 7:20 pm.  We have a good friendly group of talented people. Many have extensive experience in various martial arts. Others found this and have made this their sole passion. We welcome all that come with an empty cup and a sincere heart.

( Separately, you can inquire about private lessons to be conducted in person or virtually on Zoom )

Every year we host Iaido seminars taught by Roger Wehrhahn Shihan, Chief Instructor for North American San Shin Kai. He was a direct personal student of Mitsuzuka Takeshi Sensei for a quarter century until Mitsuzuka Sensei passed away. Wehrhahn Shihan continues to this day a close relationship with Mitsuzuka Sensei’s son, Munehiro Mitsuzuka Sensei who began sword training with his father as a young child and helped instruct the first westerners that came to Japan to study in the 1970’s. The North American San Shin Kai hosts an international summer camp every August where formal testing for rank advancement is conducted.
